Charged with felony child abuse

Gulfport police have arrested a man accused of abusing and causing serious head injuries to his two-month-old son.

Twenty-nine year-old Shawn Babbitt is charged with felony child abuse, one count of resisting arrest, and one count of disorderly conduct.

Thursday, officers were called to the 500 block of Oregon Drive where the two-month-old was found suffering from a skull fracture. He was taken to Memorial Hospital and then airlifted to the children’s hospital in Mobile.

Babbitt’s bond is set at $200,000.
