Center Stage Biloxi returns without COVID restrictions

More than a year after what was supposed to be its premiere, Center Stage Biloxi is finally bringing ‘Last of the Red Hot Lovers’ to the stage.

In March of 2020, COVID-19 restrictions forced Center Stage to cancel indefinitely their 2019-2020 season finale show.

Sixteen months later, the Neil Simon Classic will be coming to life in front of a full crowd after Center Stage chose to remove all COVID restrictions inside the theatre based on local, state, and federal recommendations.

The show is returning to the stage for the first time in 45 years and features several veteran local actors.

Here’s how a couple of the actors feel about performing in front of a full audience once again. Shorty Sneed, playing the role of Barney, said, “I think you turn it up a notch. You feel your adrenaline flows a little faster. But we do the same thing for everybody every night. But it’s a natural thing to have adrenaline flow a little bit when you’ve got a full house.”

Kennedy Miazza, playing the role of Elaine, said, “There’s nothing more exciting than finally getting to be on stage and perform for people. Center Stage has been around for such a long time. People love this theater. This set has been up for about a year. It is an incredible set. We’ve laughed and said someone could’ve been living here. Now we’re back, back in business. And it’s so wonderful that people are going to be able to sit where they want to sit. The last show we weren’t able to do that.”

For those who are not ready to be part of a full capacity audience, Center Stage will offer a reduced house performance the evening of Wednesday, June 23rd.
