Celtic Festival is This Weekend at the Beauvoir

The grounds of the Beauvoir are being transformed into Celtic Festival. This is the 29th year the Highlands and Islands Celtic Gatherings Association is putting on the Scottish Highlands Games.

Starting at 9 a.m. Saturday, there will be musicians, merchandise, and food vendors, all representing different areas in the Celtic region. A Wiggins man will bring down his sheep and sheep dogs and a full metal jousting arena will be set up. While these activities may be foreign to some, festival coordinators say those who give it a try come back looking for more.

Kelly Kirk-Patrick, a festival worker, says, “A lot of people come by and said we’re putting on the games we laid out a year last year and then we did it again, a fall muster here. People are just drooling like, ‘Wow, we can’t wait for you to come back!’”

Kirk-Patrick says this festival allows those with Irish and Scottish heritage to learn more about their cultural roots. There will even be a genealogist onsite so visitors can learn a bit more about their lineage. The event is from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, November 15th on the grounds of the Beauvoir.
