Celebrating Joey Williams at Lynn Meadows

This weekend at the Lynn Meadows Discovery Center, guests are welcomed to celebrate the life of Joey Williams, a longtime employee. He recently lost his battle with bile duct cancer at the age of 48.
Williams was the technical director at Lynn Meadows, remembered for his love of the children, a passion for teaching, and his work with the center’s Wings Program.
The large Dr. Seuss-like dots leading up to Lynn Meadows and the zany decorations in his office are just a small part of what Williams left behind at Lynn Meadows. Wings Performing Arts Director Tonya Hays said, “He was just kind of the life of the party around here. He was also incredibly talented, great musician, very artistic. Created a lot of different things for us and worked with the kids. He loved the kids. He basically was, still is, considered indispensable for us. We’ll never replace him. He did about 10 jobs.”
The party in Williams’ honor will begin at 6 p.m. tomorrow. Next weekend, Lynn Meadows will present a live play of Beauty and the Beast in Williams’ honor running Friday through Sunday.
