Casinos give major donation to homeless advocacy center

Leaders from Biloxi’s 8 casinos came together to make a major donation to a local homeless advocacy center.

The casinos donated $85,000 to the Catholic Diocese of Biloxi’s Mercy Cross Center.

The money will help the center expand its services and make improvements to the facility.

The center’s leaders continue to tackle the challenges of homelessness in Biloxi.

Biloxi Bishop Louis Kihneman III says the money will go a long way, especially since the center is still in its infancy.

“It’s been wonderful to see the outpour of the community to help us and support us,” said Bishop Kihneman III. “I’m really touched today casinos have really come together to help us also. It is very much appreciated.”

Since opening last month, the center has helped nearly 40 people move out of homelessness through its transitional services.
