CASA of South Mississippi holds annual Light of Hope event

STONE COUNTY, Miss. (WXXV)- In recognition of National Child Abuse Prevention Month, CASA of South Mississippi hosted its annual Light of Hope event.

Community members gathered at the Stone County Courthouse to stand united in support of foster children who have experienced abuse or neglect and celebrate the accomplishments of CASA volunteers who have gone above and beyond for children in Hancock, Harrison, and Stone counties.

Some of the awards handed out were ‘Advocate of the Year’ for each county, ‘CPS Worker of the Year,’ ‘Outstanding Community Professional,’ and the ‘Julie Cannon Champion for Children.’

The goal of the event was to educate and inform the public about CASA’s work and its role in changing the lives of South Mississippi children.

CASA is always looking for more volunteers. If you are interested, click here.
