CASA of Hancock County expanding to become CASA of South Mississippi
An organization dedicated to advocating for children in foster care is expanding.
CASA of Hancock County has become CASA of South Mississippi and will also serve Harrison and Stone counties.
Executive Director Cynthia Chauvin spoke to the Harrison County Board of Supervisors this morning, saying that CASA of Harrison and Stone counties dissolved in January and Hancock County expanded to become CASA of South Mississippi to make sure there wasn’t a lapse in child services for children in Harrison and Stone Counties.
Currently, Harrison County has 236 children in foster care, but only 84 are being served by CASA. Chauvin says she hopes that by combing resources all children will be served by volunteers trained to advocate for abused and neglected children.
