Cartoon artist stands out with his designs at Ocean Springs Artwalk

Many vendors and artists participated in the art walk in Downtown Ocean Springs, but there was one particular artist that caught a lot of attention.

Cartoon artist Spencer Gray Jr. gave people a lot to smile and laugh about his latest designs as they passed his vendor spot.

Gray tells News 25 ever since he was a little kid he had dreams of becoming a syndicated cartoonist, but did not make it down that career path.

Instead, he turned his desire to draw into sculpting, developing fun, whimsical sculptures, which are made from metal or PVC foam board.

The Pass Christian resident has done Art Walk before and involves himself in other art festivals on the Coast, but this was his first time back since COVID. “I feel like a rockstar. It’s a great feeling when people come and just enjoy the art and get a kick of it. They get a chuckle and it just makes for a great interaction between the people observing the art and the artist. I just love it. It inspires us to keep on doing art work.”

You can follow Gray on his Facebook page or head to his website to see more of his art work and upcoming events he plans to attend.
