Carter’s Champions presents $116,000 check to help local breast cancer patients
Carter’s Champions presented a check of more than $100,000 to the Memorial Foundation in Gulfport.
Most people wore pink and ate pink donuts at Chandeleur Island Brewing Company to celebrate the success of their hard work.
One board member was emotional after speaking about the passing of his aunt and how he helped start this because of her.
Carter’s Champions spent one year and hosted 11 events to help raise money for patients who have breast cancer.
The money will help pay for medication, treatments, or anything someone would need when it comes to battling the disease. Carter’s Champions Executive Director Liz Gaulke said, “The first year that we did this, which was in 2020, when we first started giving it to Memorial, we raised $26,000. That was during COVID. The following year, we did $56,000 and this past year, we did $116,000. So, we just keep growing it.”
