Carpenters Union family picnic

The Carpenters Union gathered on Saturday at their Moss Point training center to host their annual family picnic.

They host this event annually to celebrate the accomplishments of members, apprentices, and the joiner men. The union teaches carpentry at this location in Moss Point. The classes they teach take over four years to fully complete. Right now, they have over 125 apprentices.

They enjoyed celebrating each other and they give out a few awards every year. Carpentry instructor Ralph Maddox said, “Today, we had a member that has been in the union for 45 years and so he gets a service pin saying that he was a member for 45 years. On the same hand, we had an apprentice that graduated out of the training here and he received his ceremonial pin and a gold card.”

The group skyped with their sister institution in Pelham, Alabama during this event that way all the carpenters could be recognized equally.
