Carnival preparations in South Mississippi

GULFPORT, Miss. (WXXV)- Carnival season is in full swing here on the Coast, marking the start of weeks of fun, but also a lot of advanced preparation for our Coast cities.

Mardi Gras brings thousands to the streets for many different parades to celebrate tradition and community spirit.

It also means busier roads, safety concerns, and long hours for first responders.

Officials say thinking ahead can help keep the season safe and enjoyable.
