Carlow College Reunion and Celebration

The annual St. Patrick’s Carlow College Priest Reunion is next week.

Carlow College in Ireland is where many South Mississippi priests began their journey to priesthood.

In its 69 years, the reunion has grown to include not only Irish priests, but priests from all over the world.

The reunion also includes a Tuesday night mass celebrated to remember the priests of St. Patrick’s Carlow College who died.

St. Thomas the Apostle longtime Parish Priest Father Louis Lohan is in town from Ireland and is looking forward to the celebration. “It was started by Irish priests nearly 70 years ago. Back then, they didn’t get to go home for maybe 10 years after they came out. They put together a reunion and it’s been going strong since. Tuesday, some of them will be playing golf. Others might ramble off to the casino or somewhere like that. I don’t know. I’ll be saying my prayers nice and quiet somewhere.”

The celebratory mass will be held Tuesday at the Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Pass Christian. All are welcome to come.
