Car lovers travel thousands of miles for Cruisin’ The Coast each year

WAVELAND, Miss. (WXXV) — Vintage cars lined the streets of downtown Waveland for this year’s Hot Rods and Hospitality event.

Cruisers gathered to enjoy the food, local vendors, and of course, some amazing classic cars. With over 8,000 vehicles registered for this year’s Cruisin’ The Coast, many come from across the country to attend events just like this one in Waveland.

Brothers Ron and Larry Clifton say they traveled over 900 miles and around 13 hours to attend the event for their third year. They plan to make this a new tradition.

Another Oklahoma native says this is his 14th year at Cruisin’, and his favorite events are always in the Waveland area. This is a show he looks forward to attending year after year.

Some Cruisers, like Ron and Larry Clifton, dedicated time to restoring their prized cars, but for others, the car has been in their lives for decades.

Charles Kennedy from Wichita, Kansas, bought his Plymouth GTX Roadrunner Combination brand new in 1974, and has been driving it for over 50 years.
