Car hits guardrail, flips on Washington Avenue in Bayou View

A driver hit the guardrail on the bridge over Brickyard Bayou and flipped before landing on the grassy area south of the bayou.

The crash happened about 12:30 p.m. Thursday.

Gulfport Police spokesman Jason Ducre’ said the driver, who was not identified, suffered minor injuries and was taken to Memorial Hospital at Gulfport.

The area is a popular spot for people to fish from the bayou.

Washington Avenue was blocked while the scene was cleared.
