Car crash in Jackson County leaves one man dead Monday

(WXXV) — The Mississippi Highway Patrol says one man is dead after a car crash on Monday.

MHP says Mississippi State Troopers responded to a two car collision that occurred on U.S. 90 at the Oaks at around 4:43 a.m. Monday in Jackson County.

Upon the initial investigations, it appeared that 22-year-old Juan Vega-Vasquez of Irvington, Alabama was traveling the wrong way on U.S. 90, traveling eastbound in the westbound lane of travel in a 2013 Dodge Charger with three other occupants in the vehicle, and all suffering moderate injuries.

Vega-Vasquez collided head on with a 2001 Toyota Camry that was traveling
westbound on U.S. 90, driven by 41-year-old Sherman Walker of Mobile, Alabama.

Walker was the only occupant in the vehicle. Walker was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The collision is still under investigation.
