Captain Pete Skrmetta dies at 94

Captain Pete Skrmetta died on Father’s Day at 94-years-old.

The captain of the Ship Island Ferry, which brought tourists back and forth from the barrier islands, ran the operation well into his 80s.

Ship Island Excursions is now run by his four sons.

His nephew, Ronnie Wentzell, said Captain Pete was a wonderful person who was always thoughtful and strong in his faith.
