Canopy Solutions raises awareness about child abuse

April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month.

To help spread awareness about this important issue, South Mississippi Child Advocacy Center is placing blue ribbons and pinwheels throughout South Mississippi.

They’ve already decorated multiple businesses and city buildings. This morning, they decorated the Long Beach Police Department.

Canopy Solutions Child Advocacy Center helps children who have been victims of felony child abuse. The center works closely with law enforcement as they’re a key part in prosecuting child abusers. Criminal Investigator Eli Zacharias said, “Child Advocacy Center came out here to do that because it is a group effort and to draw awareness to the importance of investigating and helping these kids that are victims of crimes.”

Last year, Canopy Solutions South Mississippi Child Advocacy Center served 725 children, providing behavioral and mental health care.
