Candle light vigil for Tree of Life victims

The South Mississippi community is mourning the loss of those who tragically lost their lives at the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh on Saturday.

Tonight, they joined hand-in-hand with one another, paying their respects at a candle light vigil for the 11 victims. Carly Goldin is a member of the Jewish community and she tells News 25 she was shocked and heart broken when she heard about the news that happened in Squirrel Hill.

Goldin says the community needs to come together and love one another. “I think we all just need to teach the younger generations and our children to celebrate each other’s differences instead of, you know, be at each other’s throat for them. Being different is not a bad thing. It’s what makes the world go round and we all just need to teach tolerance.”

Rabbi Akiva Hall of the Chabad Jewish Center explains it’s important for the Jewish and non-Jewish community to come together and strengthen ourselves when a tragedy like this occurs in order to grow together as one.
