Candidate qualifying for state, county elections opens
Mississippi’s Secretary of State has opened qualifying for candidates who will run in the 2023 elections.
Elections are for statewide offices, district offices, and county offices. The qualifying deadline is 5 p.m. February 1st.
Jackson and Harrison counties will be electing new sheriffs in this election.
Harrison County Sheriff Troy Peterson has announced he will not seek a third term, retiring after his current term expires.
Primaries are August 8th. The general election is November 7th.
