Candidate for Biloxi Mayor

As the special election for Biloxi Mayor gets closer, News 25 is taking a closer look at the candidates vying for the title. Today we introduce you to Pat Morris.
You may not see her name on billboards or yard signs, but Biloxi resident Pat Morris is entering the spotlight as an unexpected candidate for Mayor.
"We’ve had a number of leaders over the years”, says Morris. “But always the same political system and I want to see Biloxi go in a different direction."
Morris believes her extensive experience in volunteering has given her the skills she needs to be a strong but compassionate leader. Though she has never held public office, she believes her experience in other areas will bring a fresh perspective to a city whose last mayor served for almost 22 years.
"I’m the mother of three successful sons. So I’ve had to be a problem solver and I’ve had to maintain a balanced budget. So that shows I can run the city.”
If elected, Morris would like to see Biloxi break the casino stereotype and branch out to other economic avenues.
"We have been relying so much on casinos for our main stream revenue and a lot of retail stores have moved to other cities. We need to diversify our economy. "
While she doesn’t have the big budget campaign of many candidates, Morris believes her heart for Biloxi will win her votes on Election Day.
