Campaign sign change proposed in City of Biloxi

Community Developments is planning to bring forth an ordinance change at next week’s Biloxi City Council meeting.

They will be asking for the city to follow the state’s guidelines for campaign signs. This includes an increase of signs from 4 by 4 to 4 by 8 feet as well as extend the time frame that political signs can be up.

In Biloxi, signs are only allowed 60 days from voting. Community Developments hopes to extend that to 180 days. Director of Community Developments Jerry Creel said, “The people who are running for state office, their signs are anywhere from 32 square feet or down just a little bit. So, we want to make our ordinances match up with what the state is allowing. So, it seemed to be the right thing to do.”

This will allow for more state candidates to promote themselves in Biloxi.
