Campaign Litter Is A Problem For MDOT

They line the roads like wildflowers.
But, unlike plants political signs often prove to be roadway litter for the Mississippi Department of Transportation.
Putting up campaign signs on public property is illegal and contributes to MDOT’s $3.2 million a year battle against litter.
MDOT is responsible for removing any signs on the highway or interstate right of way, which could prove to be safety hazards for drivers.
MDOT is asking candidates to be aware of local, state, and federal laws before placing signage.
