Caller scams in Jackson County

According to Jackson County Sheriff’s Department, some citizens are reporting to the sheriff’s office that they are getting calls from someone claiming to be a sheriff’s representative.
The caller tells people they either owe outstanding fines or have a warrant against them. Sheriff Mike Ezell says the sheriff’s department never makes such calls. If you get one, simply hang up as it is not legitimate.
