C.R.A.S.E safety training

Today in Harrison County, educators and administrators are taking the necessary steps to make their campus safer county-wide.
During the Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events course, former patrol and swat officers provide training for schools, businesses, and civilians that want to be further prepared for active shooter situations. Instructors tell News 25 that a major part of preparing teachers for such an event is driving home the point that their decisions could determine the outcome for an entire classroom.
Jim Brinson with the Mississippi Office of Homeland Security said, “We actually show them videos of people that survive active shooter events, decisions that they actually made while they were going through that event. We discuss those to help administrations know that ‘hey, decisions you make, your life isn’t the only one that could be in jeopardy, it could be your students.’ So making the right decisions, making them quickly and being able to move through a survival thought process as rapidly as possibly is very beneficial.”
Between courses taking places at schools, churches, and corporations in the state, around 3000 Mississippi residents have received C.R.A.S.E. training to date.
