Butterfly, insect exhibits at Audubon Aquarium moving to riverfront campus

Audubon Aquarium of the Americas in New Orleans is renovating its campus to bring back the beloved insectarium.

The critter exhibit used to be across the street in the old U.S. Customs House, but now Audubon is moving the butterfly house and the insectarium to their river campus, building a combined experience and improving educational programming.

The work will fit nicely with the revitalized Canal Street riverfront and will join new hotels, a new ferry terminal, restaurants, and other public amenities in the area.

Construction of the new 17,000 square feet of exhibit space is underway and should be finished next year.
