Burglary Suspect Found Dead

A Biloxi man is dead after being struck by a train just after midnight this morning.
Thirty-one year old Jerry Williams the Third, of Biloxi, was found dead on the tracks just east of the Iberville Drive intersection.
Earlier in the night, the Biloxi Police Department stopped Williams after receiving a report of a suspicious person in the area. The officers let Williams go. Shortly after, Williams was struck and killed by the train. Biloxi Police have confirmed Williams committed automobile burglary just before his death.
Lt. Christopher De Back said, “The train engineers had told us they saw a white male on the tracks. They initiated their emergency stop procedures but unfortunately they ended up striking the male. When we arrived, of course, he was deceased. Our investigation revealed that he was potentially a suspect in a burglary.”
Lt. De Back says there was no evidence of foul play in Williams’ death.
There is no relation between the car burglary and the fatality other than they both happened near the Iberville Drive area.
