Burglary Suspect Arrested
An alert neighbor stopped a burglary this morning when they called the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department.
A deputy’s quick response interrupted the burglary on Big Ridge Road in the St. Martin community. The suspect, 23-year-old Demarius Gatewood, fled the scene in a vehicle, colliding with a patrol car. A pursuit ensued, ending in Gulfport where Gatewood fled on foot. He was apprehended a short time later by the Gulfport Police Department.
Gatewood is charged with one count residential burglary and one count felony fleeing.
