Bunny abandoned on Biloxi Beach finds new home

A bunny was found on the beach in Biloxi, wandering and looking for a home. News 25’s Brooke Parker brings us a heartwarming story from Lola and Friends Bunny Rescue.

Somethings are just meant to be and that’s how Ruby Fledermaus felt when Lola and Friends Bunny Rescue found a brown mini-rex wandering the beach in Biloxi.

As they were rescuing him, she was saying goodbye to her best friend of 13 years: Spooky. “It just seemed like such a strange coincidence that almost at exactly the same time Spooky was passing, they were putting him in a carrier and taking him off the beach.”

Ruby and her husband couldn’t help but feel a connection to the beach bunny, so they made the road trip down from Huntsville, Alabama to take him home.

They’ve named him Mr. Sandman or Sandy for short. “It just felt like he was a little gift from Spooky as he was passing on to the rainbow bridge.”

Lola and Friend’s Bunny Rescue has over 70 bunnies in their care.  They’ve recently become a non-profit organization, which gives them the opportunity to continue helping bunnies just like Sandy. James Johnson with the rescue said, “Spooky and Sandy is just one of the stories. We have a lot of other bunnies that have their own special little stories in how they were dumped and injured and hurt. So, you know we look for people all the time to come out and adopt the bunnies and look at them and foster the bunnies. And hopefully, we can find a good place for them where they won’t be dumped again.”
