Buddy Bag January donation drive
One local nonprofit organization is keeping the holiday spirit rolling as we head into 2018 and you have a chance to get involved.
Buddy Bags is currently holding their January donation drive. They’re in need of toys, blankets, hygiene products, and other basic necessities for the foster children of South Mississippi. The UPS Store in D’Iberville will be collecting these items all month.
Buddy Bags has set this year’s goal at one thousand bags to be distributed to foster kids in need. They’ve already filled around 175 bags, but more donations and corporate sponsors are needed. Buddy Bags President Brandy Hamilton said, “They have a hygiene kit, an activity book, a fleece blanket, and a stuffed animal and it gives them just a little bit of comfort and in 2016 we donated 50 bags. In 2017 we donated over 400.”
Amelia Lewis with the UPS Store said, “With it being the beginning of the year, right after Christmas, so many places have many of these items on sale right now and you know it wouldn’t be hard for anyone to pick up a few extra little things, a couple dollars here and there.”
