Bud and Burgers cooking competition in Downtown Ocean Springs
Over in Ocean Springs on Saturday, the aroma of good burgers and beer filled all of downtown.
The annual Buds and Burgers cooking competition, hosted by the Ocean Springs Chamber and Mitchell Distributing Company, saw a large crowd fill the streets, trying different homemade burgers and enjoying various arts and crafts vendors.
Some local teams also shared their biggest secrets to making the best burger. Jimbo Dawson and Company said, “The secret to the burger is some love, okay. Here’s the secret: butcher’s burger blend, honey hot, and come get some. That’s the secret.”
Contingo Warriors Chef Demetrio Marques said, “Just patience, concentration, fresh ingredients. You know you want to have something that’s going to have all the elements of a good burger that’s going to have a bit, a pop, crunch, all the things that people look for in a burger.”
Team Patty Pounders, led by George Cumbest, took home the win out of six total teams.
