Buc-ee’s officially open in Harrison County
HARRISON COUNTY, Miss. (WXXV)- Buc-ee’s officially opened its doors bright and early Monday morning in Harrison County.
This is the first Buc-ee’s location in Mississippi.
The store is 74,000 square feet and features 120 fuel pumps, 24 EV chargers, 165 restrooms, a car wash, burritos, briskets, and more.
People were lined up before the doors officially opened at 6 this morning and streamed in all morning long.
Buc-ee’s officials and local leaders also held a ceremonial ribbon cutting at 10. Buc-ee’s Founder Arch ‘Beaver’ Aplin III said, “Well, I am so jazzed up about it, we’ve been talking about this for a long time. We were at a groundbreaking almost two years ago, it took a long time but the county and the state had to do major highway improvements and infrastructure but we are here now. So, I’m so excited about it. The rain didn’t dampen anyone’s spirit. It kind of made it more exciting, I’d say to move everybody inside. One of the big things that we do that I’m very proud of, is the economic impact that it has on communities, especially small communities. So, we will employ 200 plus with livable wage, great jobs, I’m talking about full-time jobs. It’s wonderful for the tax base, it’s wonderful for the employment in the community. So, it’s one of the favorite things I get to do is watch communities really prosper when we come to town. I would like to just tell South Mississippi, we are excited to be here and if you haven’t gotten to a Buc-ee’s, I hope you can get out to one because I hope you love the experience and get to see it.”
