Brisolara and Peterson Head to Runoff

The closest race in last night’s Harrison County primary will also be heading to a runoff in three weeks.
Everyone’s eye was on the sheriff race last night at the Harrison County Courthouse. Incumbent Melvin Brisolara and challenger Troy Peterson were neck and neck throughout the entire night. The final numbers secured Peterson with 48.5 percent of the vote and Brisolara with 47.5 percent.
Up until the August 25th runoff, the two will be vying for the leftover four percent of the vote won by the third candidate, Todd Stewart. Whoever wins the runoff will run unopposed in November.
