Southern Miss Alum Brian Dozier signs with Mets

Southern Miss alum Brian Dozier has a new home with the New York Mets less than two weeks after being cut by the San Diego Padres.

The 33-year-old Dozier signed a minor league contract to play in the Big Apple earlier today, returning to the NL East where he just won the 2019 World Series with the Washington Nationals.

Last year, the former Golden Eagle swatted 20 home runs despite falling into a platoon during the second half of last season.

His new contract still doesn’t guarantee him a spot on the opening day roster.
