Brian Dozier drawing interest from Brewers, Red Sox

Before the season even began, Southern Miss alum Brian Dozier said the writing was on the wall regarding his future with the Minnesota Twins. That wall still reads just the same more than five months later with Major League Baseball’s trade deadline now just eight days away.

According to various reports, the former Golden Eagle is being linked to the Milwaukee Brewers and more recently the Boston Red Sox.

If the Twins were to strike a deal with the Brew Crew that trade package could include current or former Biloxi Shuckers, although that’s purely speculation.

Dozier is having a down year by his own standards, but the analytics would suggest he’s in for some positive regression in the second half. From 2015 to 2017, Dozier was one of three players to hit at least one hundred home runs and one hundred doubles. The other players are Manny Machado and Nolen Arenado.

Speaking of former Shuckers, some bad news for Brent Suter who was placed on the ten day disabled list earlier today with a torn UCL. Tommy John surgery is likely. Taking his place is another Biloxi guy, Jorge Lopez, who was recalled from Triple A Colorado Springs in a corresponding move. Lopez not looking like himself recently though with a 5.56 ERA at Triple A.
