Breakfast with a Hero
This morning, Gulfport police and firemen came together at the fire station for Breakfast with a Hero.
Community members stopped by the fire station to have a donut and coffee and thank Gulfport first responders.
Dennis Schulz even traveled from Wisconsin to shake the hands of these heroes. Schulz has his leg amputated five years ago by first responders. Even though he was awake during the whole process, it saved his life.
Now Schulz travels the country thanking the people who keep our community safe and protected. “I appreciate them. I am here and I get to see my family because of them. Why shouldn’t I be able to go and shake their hands? They are everyday people. The duty called and they didn’t tell their wife they couldn’t go or their kid’s softball game, they came in the time of need and that’s why I am here today. They need to be thanked and they need to be appreciated and I am showing it across America and I will do it all the way.”
Schulz tells News 25 he has even been to the White House and thanked some of the country’s top protectors.
