Breakfast with the Mayor in Ocean Springs
New Ocean Springs Mayor Shea Dobson took the stand for his first breakfast with the mayor event since taking office.
Topics leading the breakfast included expanding the parking lot at the sports complex, developing the city with new businesses and condos, plus sand problems on Front Beach. Mayor Dobson also stressed transparency in the mayor’s office with the public.
Opening the floor to the crowd also opened up opposition to his recent decision to fly the Mississippi state flag at City Hall. “You’re going to make some decisions that some people are going to love, some people are going to hate, but I am an elected official and everyone has a right to address me and to air any grievances they have with me. It’s freedom of speech and that’s what’s beautiful about the United States and I welcome any discussion and dialogue that anyone wants to have with me,” said Mayor Dobson.
Mayor Dobson addressed the idea to have Ocean Springs residents vote on the subject of the state flag. He also plans to increase the city’s presence on social media.
