Brandi Harvey Speaks in Biloxi

In honor of Martin Luther King Day and as part of the 2017 Coast Wide MLK day Celebration, Brandi Harvey, daughter of comedian and TV star Steve Harvey, was featured at an inspirational service in Biloxi this weekend. News 25’s Hank Davis was there and brings us the story.
The Biloxi Civic Center was packed for an inspirational service on the eve of Martin Luther King Jr Day. The service featured special guest speaker Brandi Harvey, daughter of television personality Steve Harvey, as well as the executive director of the Harvey foundation. Harvey commits herself to improvement through understanding and education.
Among those in attendance, Mayor Andrew ‘Fo Fo’ Gilich, who found the service to be empowering and inspirational. “What struck me was the push for education. You’ve got to have that.”
Brandi Harvey said, “As we go forward and we talk about really making America great, it’s that we have educated people who are making informed decisions, who are being thoughtful and intentional about everything that they do, whether that’s how they move and advocate for people but also how they speak truth to power.”
The theme for this year’s Coast Wide MLK Celebration has been ‘ordinary people, extraordinary change’ and Biloxi City Councilman Felix Gines says that theme was also reflected in Harvey’s message and in the true spirit of MLK day.”Don’t sit on the sidelines. It’s about fighting for the cause. The dream is continuous, if you sit on the side lines the dream will pass you by. Stand up, the dream is here.”
