Boys & Girls Club Students Attend Career Fair

Wednesday, Boys and Girls Club students learned about a variety of careers they may be interested in pursuing. Fourth graders and up walked from table to table, learning what it’s really like to have a job as a nurse, firefighter, solider, and more.

Gulfport’s Boys and Girls Director says many children say they want to be professional athletes, but he enjoys seeing them become passionate about different careers at the fair each year. While many of these students are a long ways off from college or the workforce, those helping at the event say it’s important to start talking about different careers early.

Alania Cedillo, a career fair participant, says, “I watched these two young boys, they were tussling a bit, and I listened to them. What and one of them said is, ‘Come on, come on, let me show you what I want to be!’ and I’m telling you, influencing even one child to want to be something is really what a career fair is about, especially for this group.”

The Director of the Boys and Girls Club says they try to put this career day fair on each year in March for the students.
