Boys from Pascagoula High School face off in the Mr. Goula Pageant

Seventeen junior and senior boys hitting the stage on Thursday, all of them believing they had what it took to be the next Mr. Goula. A pageant title which carries some weight in the halls of Pascagoula High School.

“Mr. Goula is the highlight of the year for majority of the seniors. This is where the boys get to represent. It’s just kind of a chance for everybody to get out here and have fun and enjoy ourselves,” says Mr. Goula contestant, Lukas Nason.

The night kicking off with each contestant’s walk up song and intro, followed by the fan favorite group dance contest where all the moves were pulled out of the bag. Then the highly competitive and highly flashy best dressed contest with everyone showing off their threads.

Mr. Goula is more than just a pageant title, it’s a chance for these young men to represent the groups and clubs at the school which mean so much to them.

“I’m very excited to be representing the Pascagoula High School swim team because it’s a growing sport. We’re getting bigger every year and we’re making it to state more and more. For it to be big enough now to have someone representing it, it’s a big deal to me,” says Matthew Nason.

For the reigning Mr. Goula, Nicholas Madison, the pageant is the ultimate opportunity show a spotlight on a club which holds a very special place in his heart.

“This year and last year I represented speech and debate. Speech and debate has been a very important part of my life for these four years because in a world where voices are silenced, speech and debate provides that platform for students to voice their opinions.”

At the end of the night it all came down to a question and answer segment between the top five contestants left, with the reigning champ Nicholas Madison once again regaining the title of Mr. Goula.
