Boys and Girls track teams compete in Prince Jones Relays in Gulfport
A handful of teams gathered in Gulfport over the weekend to compete in the Prince Jones Relays.
Teams competed in the long jump, pole vault, discus, shot put, a number of relay races, and more. It was a great showing for these student athletes to sharpen their skills in hopes of improving for future track meets down the road.
Alexa Rouse tied the St. Martin High School women’s record in the pole vault competition. Gulfport High’s Emmanuel Bentley took home 1st place in the 100-meter dash. “I like to thank God right there. I ran a 10.96, thanks to Coach Smith, thanks to Coach Floyd.”
Bentley had knee surgery last year and credits his newfound speed to rehab and a lot of running. He ran an official time of 10.77 in the 100-meter dash.
