Bow Ties and Beignets and Bacon Fundraiser

A children’s shelter will be receiving an un-bow-lievable amount of donations, thanks to the second annual Bow Ties, Beignets and Bacon fundraiser.
Members of the community, dressed up with bow ties, filled a banquet hall inside the Island View Casino and Resort this morning. This was all to raise money for the Harrison County Youth Court Shelter.
There was a chance to learn how to tie a bow tie, a bacon breakfast, and a silent and live auction which was emceed by Gulfport Mayor Billy Hewes.
The proceeds will go to replace the beds and the bedding at the children’s shelter which haven’t been replaced in years. Event Co-sponsor Chad Riemann said, “It’s important because as a community our children are our future and every one of them has the right to grow up in a warm and loving environment. Hopefully this event will help them as they move forward.”
News 25’s Ryan Mahan helped out at the event, distributing auction items.
If you want to make a donation to the children’s shelter, you still can. Donations can be mailed to the Harrison County Children’s Shelter at PO Box 7017 in Gulfport.
