Boots and Badges Benefit Game

Special Olympics Mississippi kicked off its 2016 summer games season with a charity softball game that honored its athletes, volunteers and champions.
The Boots and Badges unified softball game featured the airmen and women of Keesler Air Force Base and the police officers of the Law Enforcement Torch Run. Each team included Special Olympic athletes from across the state as well as various community leaders like former Saints football players, local World Series champions and WXXV’s Shelby Myers. Special Olympics Mississippi PR Director Jim Beaugez said, “They’ve competed on a local level among their peers. These are the top, the best of the best competitors and they’ll be competing at Keesler on May 21st in the 2016 Sumner Games for Special Olympics Mississippi.”
Special Olympics athlete Daniel Yennie said, “I’m really having fun, enjoying it, especially with a Saints player, too.”
Team Badges walked away with the victory.
