Boomtown Casino Chefs Win Gumbo Competition

Boomtown Casino’s culinary team competed in the gumbo competition at the 33rd Annual Biloxi Seafood Festival at Point Cadet Plaza. Twelve teams entered their original gumbo recipes in either Amateur or Professional divisions. The public was invited to sample gumbo and vote for their favorite. For the fourth consecutive year, Boomtown’s team earned top place of Professional Champion.

Executive Sous Chef, Chris Burnham, said, “The team developed a recipe to put a twist on traditional gumbo by combining seafood gumbo and seafood jambalaya to create our version of ‘gumbalaya’ and topped with fried crawfish tails. At Boomtown, we like to keep the seafood festival patrons wondering what we will do next.”

Burnham credits the win to the fantastic team including Timothy Owens, Gloria Moulds, David Davis, DeAndre Frost, and Jason Scott. The award-winning gumbo is served at Boomtown Buffet and BT Steakhouse.
