Body of 17-year-old who went missing Monday in George County river is recovered
A 17-year-old who went under water while swimming in the Pascagoula River on Monday afternoon has been recovered.
Sheriff Mitchell Mixon said 17-year-old Jakeob Mullin was found about 9:42 p.m. Tuesday about a quarter mile from where he was last seen.
“Our hearts go out to Jakeob’s family during this incredibly difficult time,” Mixon said. “We ask that you please keep them in your thoughts and prayers as they navigate this tragic loss.”
Mixon also went on to thank all the first responders, volunteers and agencies who helped in the search and recovery. Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks, Jackson County Flotilla, Department of Marine Resources, Mississippi Highway Patrol Dive Team and other emergency personnel were involved.
