Body identified as Hancock County man Philip Whitaker

Authorities have positively identified a body found wrapped in carpet near I-10 in New Orleans as 54-year-old Philip Whitaker from Hancock County.
Orleans Parish Coroner Dr. Jeffrey Rouse released his identity today. Whitaker’s body was found near an on-ramp last Wednesday. He was last seen in Harrison County and was reported missing since November 8th.
Authorities are treating this case as a homicide.
