Boardwalk Plans for Biloxi
In the next few years, you could be walking along a brand new boardwalk in Biloxi.
The Sand Beach Authority and the Department of Marine Resources are collaborating on getting a tidelands grant to fund the 2 to 3 million dollar project. The public would be able to enjoy a two mile walkway along the beach, spanning from Treasure Bay to Rodenberg Avenue. Officials tell News 25 it could take up to three years to complete.
Chuck Loftis with the Harrison County Sand Beach Authority said, “I think it will be a huge draw for the locals and visitors alike. So they can walk along there. It will be really nice, a nice amenity just for the general public and visitors alike, especially when you’re eating at one of the restaurants, to be able to come down and walk along the whole backside.”
Loftis tells News 25 if the proposal goes through we will start to see construction on the boardwalk by 2017.
