Blue Ribbon Committee holds meeting at Harrison County Courthouse

GULFPORT, Miss. (WXXV)- The Blue Ribbon Committee met Friday in Gulfport for a meeting at the Harrison County Courthouse.

One of the key topics on the agenda was discussion surrounding a human trafficking case that took place in January.

The committee came together to proactively discuss better ways to help protect children in the county.

The Harrison County Blue Ribbon Committee is a local community-led group focused on examining and reforming how child welfare and child protective services cases are handled in the county.

It was created by the Harrison County Board of Supervisors to investigate perceived shortcomings in the current system and to develop recommendations to improve outcomes for at-risk children.

Committee members also discussed broader issues raised during the proceedings, including courtroom procedures and communication with the public.
