Blue-Grey Pride prepare for marching season

Many students across the Coast are still enjoying their summer break, but for members of the Blue-Grey Pride Band of Ocean Springs High School, summer break has turned into summer band camp.

The nearly 250 member group, made up of musicians, dancers, and color guard, started their preparations for the upcoming marching season.

Each day for about two weeks, the students have braved the South Mississippi heat and humidity. This is all to make sure their show is top notch once football season rolls around. Head Drum Major Jared Napier said, “Just getting to know all the freshmen, just getting to see the whole band work together again. All of them will say that is their favorite part of high school is the band.”

If you would like to see what the band is working on, check out their public performance this Thursday at Greyhound Stadium. The BBQ meal fundraiser is from 5 to 6 and the performance is at 6:30.
