Blood drive hosted by Lynn Meadows Discovery Center

As the summer begins to wind down, the Lynn Meadows Discovery Center hosted a blood drive in Gulfport.

The summer months are the hardest months for the Blood Center to get blood. They are the most crucial because school is out and high school and college students make up a high percentage of blood donors.

With kids on vacation, this could lead to more accidents. Therefore more blood is needed over the summer.

It’s crucial to have blood drives just to have a good supply on hand just in case. “Only five percent of the population that is eligible to donate does donate. It’s not painful. You will get a little prick on your finger for iron testing. Our phlebotomists are amazing. You really will not experience pain.”

You can check the Blood Center website for future blood drives on the Coast.
