The Blood Center in need of donors

The Blood Center supplies local hospitals in southeast Louisiana and South Mississippi. They are asking for donors of all blood types to donate but have an urgent need for type O.

At the Blood Center in Gautier, they are hosting a blood drive until 6 p.m. tonight by online appointment. To schedule your appointment visit www.thebloodcenter.org.

On the website you can also fill out the donor questionnaire to help speed you through the process. The whole process is estimated to take at most an hour.

Not only will you save three lives with your donation, but you will also get a free antibody screening for COVID-19, a cholesterol check, and a free t-shirt. Coastal Region Coordinator Gina Necaise said, “We will be at Gautier doing a blood drive every week. In September we had a lot of cancellations. We had a big high school drive shield and because of COVID they can no longer do those blood drives. So, we’re currently looking for churches, community organizations, places with an inside area where we can set up and do a blood drive.”
